Barry Hanrahan was named Vice President of the Flyers in August of 2018. He was previously named Assistant General Manager in August of 2006. Hanrahan assists President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Chuck Fletcher in the day-to-day operations of the hockey club, including contract research and negotiations, roster and salary cap management, and scheduling. Hanrahan also serves as the club’s direct liaison between the NHL and the Flyers regarding all aspects of hockey administration and works closely with the Flyers minor league affiliates in Lehigh Valley of the AHL and Reading of the ECHL. He has worked for the club since 1997, first as Director of Team Services and then as Assistant to the General Manager before being promoted to his current role.
Prior to joining the Flyers, Hanrahan spent six years with the Tampa Bay Lightning. He joined the Lightning in January of 1991 and was involved in the initial start-up of the franchise, working in the public relations and hockey operations departments as the organization prepared for its first NHL season in 1992-93.
Hanrahan earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida Southern College, concentrating in Sports Management, before earning his JD degree from Widener University School of Law in Delaware. While attending Florida Southern College, he interned with the Orlando Magic of the NBA during their inaugural season in 1989-90. Hanrahan and his wife, Lisa, reside in South Jersey with their three sons, Jack, Ty and Cam, and their Australian Cobberdog, Doctor.
